Museums are known for their fine art, antiques, and national treasures, but until recently, most have been mismatched with their food offerings. Although museums house some of the worlds best wonders and many fine specimens, most have always had poor food quality in their dining offerings. Today there are many celebrity chefs and restauratuers that are partnering with museums to offer great fine dining choices so that the food may match the venue. I think it is a great idea, and the museum theme can be carried off into the restaurant itself. To me, food is an exhibit, so why not make the food in museums to that caliber? It will be a great expansion in the fine dining industry and the trend may grow to include many other establishments around the world.

This whole idea seems to make alot of sense. I have not been to many musams in my day but i remember that the food was quick service and nothing special. When painters, sculpures, and the fine arts are on display, the food should complement that and be up to par are better. This new coming trend is great for restauranteers and chefs to take advantage of through different channels than traditinaly. This can make an overall theme of the museums complete by adding an extra eatery as an option to match the decor and items in the building.
ReplyDeleteAnother fun article, and in something I have experience in. I recently went to the Museum of Fine arts in Boston and it wasn't to wander the halls examining all the art but rather to have dinner with my Grandmother in the restaurant Bravo (a Restaurants Associates venue). It was a very nice, upscale location and the whole time I was there all I could think was why didn't anyone do this sooner inside a museum. Something else I though was neat is that they have some of the museums art in the dinning room and my Grandmother tells me that they rotate the art in the dinning room pretty often. I couldn't believe it, all I could think was what a great concept.
